WHOTOPS is owned and operated in Ghana. We believe privacy should be simple. We only collect the data we absolutely need to run the board, process your payments, and keep the system secure. We do not sell your personal data to advertisers.
1. What we collect
We collect data in four distinct categories:
- Account Data: The email address or phone number you provide when you log in or claim a listing.
- Listing Data: The title, URL, description, category, and image you submit. Because this is a public board, this data is meant to be seen by everyone.
- Financial Data: Transaction amounts, payment status, and references from our payment processor (Paystack). We never see, collect, or store your actual credit card numbers.
- Analytics & Security Data: We count views and clicks to show you how much attention your listing is getting. To prevent bots and vote manipulation, we collect technical device data, but this data is anonymized so it cannot be traced back to you.
2. How we use your data
We use your information strictly to operate the service:
- To rank your listing accurately based on your bids.
- To send you important notifications, such as payment receipts and alerts when you have been outbid.
- To authenticate your identity using secure login links or codes without requiring a password.
- To detect and prevent fraud, malicious bots, and abuse of the board.
- To maintain accurate financial and audit records as required by law.
3. Public vs. Private Information
Everything you put into your listing (Title, URL, Image, Category) is public and visible to anyone visiting WHOTOPS.
Your contact details (email/phone number) and your specific transaction history are private. We never display your contact information to other users or visitors.
4. Cookies and Tracking
We use secure, essential cookies simply to keep you signed in after you verify your identity. We do not use third-party tracking cookies to follow you across the internet, and we do not participate in targeted advertising networks.
5. Data Retention
We retain your listing data for as long as your listing remains active on the board. Financial records and audit logs are securely kept for a longer period as required by tax laws and financial compliance standards. We actively delete or anonymize data that is no longer necessary for our operations.
6. Your Rights
You have full control over your data. You have the right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, request corrections to inaccurate data, or ask us to completely delete your account and associated listings (subject to our legal obligations to retain financial records).

If we make significant changes to how we handle your data, we will update this page and notify active users via email.
